The Life of the Diocese
As a diocese of the Old Catholic Churches International, the Diocese of Saint Maximilian Kolbe stands within a catholic and apostolic communion ordered to prayer, worship, sacramental faithfulness, and service. Its purpose is not merely administrative, but spiritual: to gather the faithful, strengthen the Church’s common life, and support ministry rooted in holiness, mercy, and truth.
In this calling, the diocese serves clergy, communities, and ministries across the Southeast. It seeks to make visible a catholic witness that is reverent in worship, apostolic in order, sacramental in life, and pastoral in spirit.
The Work of the Diocese
Worship and Sacramental Life
The diocese supports the public worship of the Church through reverent liturgy, the proclamation of Holy Scripture, and the faithful celebration of the sacraments in parish and community life.
Pastoral Oversight
Through episcopal and clerical leadership, the diocese offers guidance, accountability, encouragement, and pastoral care to the communities and ministries entrusted to it.
Parish and Outreach Mission
The diocesan witness is carried forward through parish life, local outreach, and the Church’s steady presence among those seeking worship, fellowship, and faithful pastoral care.
A Catholic Witness in the Southeast
The wider witness of OCCI is catholic in faith, apostolic in order, and sacramental in life. Within that larger communion, the Diocese of Saint Maximilian Kolbe serves as a local church committed to worshiping Almighty God, strengthening the faithful, and making visible the Kingdom of God through mercy, pastoral charity, and service.
The diocese exists so that the faithful may hear the Word, draw near to the altar, receive the sacraments, and be formed for lives of discipleship in the Church and in the world.
The work of the diocese is ordered toward the worship of God, the care of souls, the strengthening of the Church, and the faithful witness of Christ throughout the region entrusted to its care.
Communities and Local Mission
The diocesan life is made concrete in local communities where worship, pastoral ministry, and outreach are lived out on the ground. Public diocesan listings identify Saint Francis Parish and Outreach in Augusta, Georgia as one such community within the life of the diocese.
